Community Internships

belize Directory

INTERNSHIPS are important for:

The Problem: Students in school sit everyday with their books and pens in their hands but during the class their minds stray because they are not fully occupied or just not interested in the topic that is being taught. Students are always looking out the window or door because they are more fascinated by what is happening outside the classroom. Sitting, listening and being educated is not enough for us, we want to be able to go out and explore.

Our solution: Real-world skills through internships that build professional networks. We want to go out,  take action for what we are learning and actually apply it in the real world. For us this means the opportunity to apply for an internship to a business that deals with our interest areas and passions.  UBUNTU Team has created a nationwide directory of itnernships on this website.

"Having the opportunity to go out for internships before my fourth year of high school is a privilege because by expanding my knowledge I am able to learn and experiment and ask myself along the way “What am I going to study for when I am furthering my education.” “What do I want to be?” Thanks to Internships, these are questions that now I would be able to answer without hesitating and thinking twice about my options".

Corporate Social  Responsibility: Be A mentor for young students! Expand their knowledge so that the youth don’t stray away and drop out of school. Mentor them to learn and experience how it feels to be a part of a business and careers that relate to his/her passion & interest area. Be a part of a movement that will benefit your community.

Positive PR: The business benefits by having more customers because they know that the business is giving back to the community, and taking time out of  their schedules to mentor students. As a team we work hand in hand with you, starting with the UBUNTU recognition stickers (above) for participating businesses to display.

“At first I welcomed one intern in Form 3. It went so well that we not only offered her holiday employment, but I also welcomed three more interns in Forms 1 and 2. We teach them professionalism skills as well as how to run a beauty salon, and we expect a lot from them. We are proud to be part of the UBUNTU program, and so are our customers!”.
